The Environment and environmental protection are very important to us.
The Thulani River Lodge is built in harmony with nature and made from many natural materials. African slate, old wood and natural stones, combined with our thatched roof in the main house gives you the feeling of a cozy home. We also take care of the local fauna and flora. We only cultivate plants which are originally from the western cape.
Non-wastage of water and electricity is important to us, as well as keeping our waste to a minimum and obviously disposing it in the right way. We are a non-smoker’s house, it is not allowed to smoke in the rooms, on the balconies and terraces, but we do offer a small smoker terrace.
All our income from our small souvenir shop goes directly to the “Hope” Foundation. There biggest cause is supporting children with Aids, as well as a lot of different projects.
Unique to Hout Bay is the „Tea Bag design shop “. They make true masterpieces out of used and dry tea bags. The shop which is connected to the workshop is accommodated in Hout Bay in our Main Road, it’s worth to have a look and it’s a perfect example that hard work pays off.
